National Fake News Monument

We now live in a world whereby we are bombarded with mixed or even misleading information.

Information sources over the last decade have increased dramatically, but with little regulation many of these sources remain dubious and the information cannot be trusted. An escalation of social media platforms has only amplified this, with news providers appearing to be officious or untrustworthy becoming numerous.

Now, more than ever, the narrative changes depending on the provider or publisher. News platforms are very often sponsored or funded by unverified sources – all with different and sometimes damaging intent.

This leaves the general public exposed and vulnerable to understanding a distorted or corrupt message as truthful. Governments have now joined this same race to commandeer the digital space, offering different views and messages. This even includes interfering in other countries elections.

We have created a concept art of a National Educational Monument to raise awareness on how news and information you see online may not always be as trustworthy, or as clear-cut, as you assume it to be.
