Manchester Says No to Knife Crime – Manchester’s Anti-Violence Legacy Monument

This is a concept piece proposed by Manchester following the Greater Manchester Police’s (GMP) campaign to facilitate the city being a part of the Knife Angel’s National Anti-Violence Tour. Officials and officers from GMP actively want to include Manchester within the nationwide anti-violence tour and programme, and have now developed a partnership with Manchester Cathedral to bring the Angel to the city.

The legacy sculpture would be created using blades and weapons recovered during the Angel’s 30-days in Manchester and would become Manchester’s visual stance against knife crime and violence in general. The proposed idea of a bee goes hand-in-hand with Manchester’s famous worker bee symbol, which has represented the city’s work ethic and being a hive of activity for over 150 years. This sculpture would become a permanent fixture in the city, acting as an ever-lasting reminder of Manchester’s intolerance to violence and aggression.
