We created this proposal after being inspired by a visit from Macmillan’s National Fundraising Head, who visited us here at the Centre in 2020. We were gratefully recognized as an important supporter for the charity, having supported several Shropshire fundraisers by completing and hosting a number of events in aid of the charity – including annual colour runs and high-profile fundraising balls. Each event has proved to be very successful with the general public and our supporting communities and, over several years, have generated tens of thousands of additional, much-needed income for the cause.

During the special visit from Macmillan’s National Fundraising Head, we presented this project idea – the giant letter ‘M’ sculpture inspired by their corporate branding and colours. These sculptures would be created for hospital gardens all around the UK, each holding thousands of heart discs, all to be personalised with the names of loved ones who have either fought cancer or been prematurely taken by this horrible disease. This project is currently being appraised by Macmillan HQ.
