‘Hole-In-One’ For Oswestry Golf

The British Ironwork Centre was recently approached by the team over at Oswestry Golf Club around adding some ‘wow’ factor to their entranceway. Inspired by the larger-than-life sculptures seen lining the Ironworks’ driveway, the golf club wanted to bring something equally as impactful to their grounds. Which is where the idea to create a golfer sculpture from disused golf clubs was sparked.

The Oswestry Golf Club gave the Ironworks access to a number of second-clubs, which the Centre used to create this incredible sculpture alongside their own recycled materials. When the sculpture was unveiled to the club earlier this week, their reaction made it clear that they weren’t expecting something quite so large or impressive. The statue depicts a golfer taking on the position of a professional athlete as he swings his club. Clive Knowles, Chairman of the British Ironwork Centre, says:

“Luke Kite, our in-house sculptor here at the Centre, has done an incredible job at capturing the movement and dynamism of professional golfers. The piece has been finished in black and antique silver, which will look fantastic against the backdrop of a blue sky, providing the club with the visual impact that they wanted.”

The sculpture has been completely funded by the Ironworks as part of their continued desire to support local people and businesses. And they’re really looking forward to seeing it at the golf club’s entryway in Queen’s Head.
