Letters to Heaven

The Ironworks has been recently motivated to organise a pilot scheme.

We are going to get involved in supporting those that are dealing and struggling with grief; principally children.

As most people will know from recent national press coverage, there was a period post box (in brilliant white) installed in a Nottinghamshire cemetery. The reasoning behind this was to assist children, particularly, in reaching their lost loved ones.

There is a belief that by enabling children specifically, but also adults, to send messages to their lost loved ones, their emotional and psychological wellbeing will benefit enormously.

In reading these articles, and by already manufacturing similar types of post boxes ourselves, we realised that we were brilliantly placed to support cemeteries within our own county (and beyond) and could offer them some free help.

This is completely free help; no responsibility will be taken for installation or maintenance.

Letters To Heaven

The Letters to Heaven Graphic, designed by our in-house graphic design team

We are presently asking the public for opinions and thoughts over what should be done with the letters that the post boxes collect.

One idea already put forward is that the letters could possibly be cremated. In some faiths, the smoke and ashes “on the wind” will allow these letters to reach their intended souls.

If you are a very large cemetery, or more specifically a very large children’s cemetery, and you would like our support, please get in touch with us.

This will be reviewed and fine tuned over the next few months, this is a pilot only.
