Here at the British Ironwork Centre we pride ourselves on hosting events which are family friendly, exciting and community driven and The Great Penny Farthing Spectacular could well be our most exciting event yet! The Spectacular Penny Farthing Race!

Clive Knowles, Chairman of the British Ironwork Centre, is delighted to be launching the event which is completely unique to Shropshire. “Having already hosted the incredibly successful Oswestry Half Marathon in April where 1,000 runners were put to the test in and around our wonderful grounds, we’re delighted to be able to welcome their two-wheeled vintage enthusiast counterparts next month. We welcome heritage dress and look forward to seeing all the top hats and flap caps, oiled handlebar moustaches and wool jerseys!”

The British Ironwork Centre is proud to invite people of all ages to don their vintage clothing, sit atop their favourite classic pre-1986 steed and pedal around our grounds. With free entry, free camping for international participants, free lunch, free tea/coffee and medals up for grabs we can’t imagine where a cycling enthusiast would rather be!

The day will consist of 6 races, the half mile course will be held on hard ground. All participants will receive a free t shirt and a delicious free lunch. This unique and wonderful event will be great fun for all ages.
