For The Little Ones

Looking for things to do with the kids? The Ironworks is family fun for all ages!

Our on-site play area  features a variety of safe and exciting climbing frames, slides, and tunnels for your children to enjoy.

Additionally, our metal sculpture park and educational displays are the perfect place for children to explore and learn more about our Earth’s beautiful wildlife whilst burning up some of their energy!

Free Activity Nature Trails

Along with our five permanent exploration trails, which can be used by the whole family including the dog, we curate a number of trails throughout the year to encourage children to explore, learn and benefit from their time here at the Centre. Children’s trails are normally seasonal and are changed from year to year to keep them occupied time and time again.  Previous trails have included the Unicorn Trail, the Safari Trail and much much more!

Outdoor Adventure Play Area

Children can let loose and pretend to be their favourite animal sculpture in a fun and safe way. They can zoom down the slide like a snake, swing on the climbing frames like a gorilla or crawl through the tunnel like a crocodile!

Outdoor Adventure Sandpit

Our sandpit is open during the summer season and is a great way for children to learn physical and social skills through digging, building and exploring the way in which sand works.

We also offer mini seasonal activities in the sandpit, from being an archaeologist and finding treasures in the sand to letting their creative juices flow by creating sand sculptures. Located opposite our Forge Café, parents can keep a watchful eye on their children whilst sampling our homemade cakes and locally sourced coffee

Bike Hire & Balance Bikes

Here at the Centre, we house a number of bicycles and electric buggies which are available to hire and can be used by the whole family. We also accommodate those who are still finding their ‘wheels’ by offering balance bikes, allowing you to teach your little one how to ride a bike in a safe open space which is full of colour and fascinating sculptures.  All you have to do is bring some enthusiasm and pedal power. With over 20-acres of park to explore, hiring a bike is the perfect and quickest way to tour the centre and its sculptures whilst getting some fresh air and exercise. Simply head to the showroom to book your ride.

Seasonal Grottos

We run an annual Easter Grotto and Santa’s Grotto right here at the Centre every year. Our Easter Grotto is entirely themed around the Spring season and gives your little ones the opportunity to explore a fully decorated ‘Easter Woodland’ before meeting the Easter bunny himself and picking out their very own chocolate egg. Our Santa’s Grotto is a wonderfully festive and immersive experience which encourages children to explore a fully decked out ‘Winter Wonderland’ before meeting Mr and Mrs Claus in their cosy log cabin. All children also get to choose a gift to take home from Santa’s Toy Shop. Keep an eye out on our socials for more information.

Halloween Spooktacular

By far one of our most popular events of the year, our annual Halloween Spooktacular is definitely not one to be missed! Featuring a full spectacle of spooky activities designed for a variety of different ages and fear levels, this event is an absolute must for anyone who wants to get into the true spirit of Halloween. Activities and themes are updated every year but always include craft workshops, face painting, a horror train trail, and a terrifying warehouse maze, among many others. Prizes are awarded throughout the day for the best-dressed children. Keep an eye out on our socials for more information.
