Charles Darwin Gorilla Sculpture

This impressive sculpture inspired by the world’s environmental crisis, combined with Charles Darwin’s biological discoveries and our desire to raise awareness wherever and whenever possible.

Created by Shropshire artist, Luke Kite, this sculpture is a modernist take on a historical figure and merges him with the species studied all his life.

This unique piece was designed to be sited in the Darwin Shopping Centre in Shrewsbury. Unfortunately, the shopping centre management team couldn’t provide the safety precautions required to secure the monument. It is still hoped that, one day, this sculpture can be homed in Shrewsbury – the birthplace of Charles Darwin, but for now he sits proudly in our Centre.
