Delivery & Returns

Click & Collect & Order Discounts

Collection and Click & Collect orders qualify for a 10% discount. The 10% collection discount only applies to orders under the value of £2,000. Sale and clearance items are strictly excluded and do not qualify for the Click & Collect discount.

Delivery Services & Lead Times

Free Next Day & Next Day Delivery

Items with free next day delivery are marked with our ‘Next Day Delivery’ text. Orders Monday to Friday must be received before 3:00 PM, and orders on Saturday must be placed before 1:00 PM to qualify for our next day delivery service. Orders placed after 1:00 PM on a Saturday will be dispatched the next working day, Monday. Please note: the British Ironwork Centre does not operate on Sundays, bank holidays, or seasonal holidays, and courier services operate Monday to Saturday.

Next day delivery is strictly available to mainland UK addresses only (this does not include Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands or Islands, Scilly Isles, Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man). If an order is placed for delivery to these locations, you may be contacted for extra delivery payment (see Restricted Postcodes & Surcharged Areas below).

We will make every effort to ensure that your item is dispatched and delivered the next day. This happens 99.9% of the time. Occasionally, due to circumstances outside of our control (e.g., raw material supplies, labour shortages, courier breakdown, severe weather), next-day delivery may not occur. We cannot take responsibility where this has not been achieved, but we will make every effort to ensure your item reaches you as quickly as possible. Delays arising with couriers or Royal Mail are outside of our control and are completely unavoidable. In certain UK mainland postcodes, next-day delivery may take up to 3 working days.

Free Standard Delivery

Items with free delivery are marked with our ‘Free Delivery’ banner. Items ordered with free delivery will be dispatched within 7–10 working days, provided they are in stock; however, at the busiest times of year (e.g., Christmas), this may take longer due to circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to contact or inform you whenever any items fall outside this 7–10 working day range.

Free delivery is only applicable to orders being sent to mainland UK addresses (excluding Northern Ireland, Highlands, and Islands). If an order is placed outside the UK Mainland, additional delivery payment may be required. Standard courier services operate Monday to Friday.

Made to Order & Multiple Item Orders

Products with a Made to Order lead time (including lighting products) will be dispatched on a next-day delivery service (where available) as soon as the product is ready. All items on an order will be dispatched together once the last item has completed production.

In some cases, if an order contains multiple, heavy, or bulky items, this could override both the free next day delivery and free delivery options depending on the overall weight and size of the order.

Palletised, Heavy & Oversized Deliveries

Some of our products (such as lamp posts, furniture, and sundial columns) may incur extra delivery costs due to increased size or weight. We will endeavour to contact you regarding any extra charges before dispatch.

For items that require delivery on a pallet, the courier company is obliged to deliver to the kerbside only (parking as close to the delivery address as possible), although movement onto your property remains at the driver’s discretion. Delivery of large and cumbersome items may occasionally be ‘vehicle side only’ and require unloading directly by the customer. In cases where there is a failed delivery or where delivery is obstructed by the customer, the company reserves the right to cancel the order minus any costs incurred.

Pallet & Packaging Disposal / Returns: Disposing of the pallet and any packaging is the customer’s responsibility and should only be done when the order is fully checked and there is no reason to return the item. Should you wish to return an item, it will need to be repackaged using the original pallet supplied. If original packaging and pallets have not been retained, you will incur a respective repackaging/courier cost as quoted to us by the carrier. This cost will be deducted from the refundable value of your item.

Courier Operations & Delivery Disputes

DPD Courier Services: Our third-party courier, DPD, operates on a tight schedule and will only attempt delivery once. Your initial delivery timeframe will be provided via text message or email through DPD tracking. In the event that you are not home, DPD will take the parcel to a local drop-off point (typically within a 5-mile radius). You will be notified via text message that the parcel has been taken to a drop-off point, followed by a second text message confirming arrival and location details. It is up to you, the consignee, to collect the parcel within 7 days. After 7 days, the parcel will be returned to the British Ironwork Centre, where a restocking fee of up to 25% may be charged, and fees will apply for re-sending. We accept no responsibility for DPD courier operations.

Other Courier Providers: For all other couriers, if you are unavailable to take delivery, your item(s) may be left with a neighbour or on your property unless you have specifically instructed us otherwise before dispatch.

You agree that proof of delivery will constitute one of the following:

A recipient signature upon delivery to your address
A recipient signature upon delivery to a neighbouring address
A photograph showing the item left on your property
A drop card stating the item has been left with a neighbour or on your property

If you wish to dispute the delivery of your item(s), you must submit your complaint in writing either by email to [email protected] or by post to:

Customer Service Manager
British Ironwork Centre
Whitehall, Aston, Oswestry
Shropshire, SY11 4JH

Please include the following with your dispute:

Your full name, telephone number, and email address
The consignee name and delivery address given when the order was placed
Your order or invoice number
A brief description of the reason for the disputed delivery
A signed declaration from the person to whom the parcel was addressed stating that they have not received the item(s)

Receiving & Inspecting Goods

Small Parcel Deliveries: For small deliveries arriving via standard couriers, the customer agrees to open all boxes and thoroughly check the goods for damage or faults. If any fault is visible, the customer must notify the British Ironwork Centre within 48 hours of delivery. If we are not notified within 48 hours, the British Ironwork Centre will be unable to process a claim with either the manufacturer or the courier.

Pallet & Large Deliveries: For larger deliveries, including pallets, you agree to check the goods thoroughly for damage or faults before signing the courier driver’s delivery note. If you sign for the goods—even with the word ‘unchecked’ or similar—you, the customer, are accepting that the goods have arrived in good condition, and any future claims for transit damage will not be considered. If the courier driver refuses to wait while you check the goods, you must refuse to accept delivery and email our team at [email protected] with the details as soon as possible.

Signing on Behalf / Third Parties: If someone else is signing for the goods on your behalf, you agree to advise them that the goods must be checked before signing. You therefore accept full responsibility for loss or damage if they sign on your behalf and fail to check the goods. You agree to indemnify us in full for any losses we suffer as a result of you or your agent accepting the goods and signing without checking for damage.

Returns, Refunds & Restocking

If you have changed your mind about a product and wish to return it, you have 14 days from receipt for a full refund of the product cost.

To return your item, follow these steps:

Email us at [email protected] including your full order number, delivery postcode, item SKU/product name, and reason for return.

Ensure the item is in perfect, resaleable condition and securely packaged in original or equivalent packaging (palletised goods must be returned on the original pallet supplied).

Address your return to:

Returns Department
British Ironwork Centre
Whitehall, Aston, Oswestry
Shropshire, SY11 4JH

Return the parcel using the courier service of your choice, ensuring your order number is clearly visible on the outer packaging. Please retain your receipt as proof of return. The British Ironwork Centre (BCMW) cannot be held responsible for any items damaged or lost in transit.

Important Return Terms:

Unnotified Returns: If you return an item without contacting us beforehand, you may incur a £20.00 administration fee to cover the additional processing work.

Restocking Fee: Depending on the size and nature of your item, you may incur up to a 25% restocking fee, which will be deducted from the purchase price of the item before refunding. Reimbursement of the whole or part of the purchase price remains at the British Ironworks discretion.

Damaged / Missing Packaging Deductions: If avoidable damage occurs to returned items through poor packaging, lack of packaging/original pallet, or if a product has been used, BCMW reserves the right to reduce the refundable value based on damage, repair costs, and courier repacking expenses.

Processing Time: Returns are inspected upon arrival at Goods In, and you will receive an email confirmation once processed. Your refund will be issued approximately 10 working days after return processing is complete.

In-Store Purchases: For items purchased in-store, please inspect your receipt and goods before leaving. All returns or exchanges for in-store purchases must be handled in person at the store.

Christmas & Seasonal

We aim to deliver all orders within 48 hours of dispatch via our national couriers. While we work hard to maintain our Free Next Day Delivery service during this busy season, high volumes can occasionally cause slight delays both in-house and with our couriers.

Certain items are supplied or crafted by local works, which can occasionally lead to unforeseen delays beyond our control. We list estimated lead times for these products on our website; however, if a delay occurs after you’ve ordered, our customer service team will reach out promptly to provide updates or suggest available alternatives.

Please kindly note that during this busy period, our customer service team is experiencing a large influx of enquiries. We are working hard to respond to everyone, but response times may be longer than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
