Types Of Garden Buddha Statues

Buddha statues come in all different sizes and variations. The most common type is a representation of Siddhartha Gautama sitting in a meditation pose, often using an iconic Buddhist hand gesture like the Dhyana Mudra or the Abhaya Mudra which symbolise concentration and fearlessness respectively.

Other Buddha statues might depict Siddhartha in a standing or reclining pose, wearing various types of robes and featuring a lotus flower in his hands or beneath his feet.

Outside of the details of the figure being depicted, garden Buddha statues can also vary in lots of other ways. They come in a wide range of materials, from resin to cast iron, may be painted or left unfinished and can be anywhere from centimetres to metres tall. There is a Buddha ornament for everybody.

Buddha Garden Statue FAQs

Buddha statues, like any other garden ornament, can be made from diverse materials, each with its unique benefits and aesthetics.

However, the most common materials for a Buddha statue are cast iron, bronze, ceramic, stone or resin. These materials all offer a great mix of beautiful looks and resilience against weather conditions, which makes them perfect for a garden ornament that will be constantly exposed to the elements.

We do not offer personalisation on our garden ornaments, including our Buddha statues. However, you can create your own personalised Buddha statue at home by painting or adding accessories to your chosen ornament.

Recommended maintenance schedules for Buddha statues depend on what material they are made from. Cast iron, aluminium and resin statues require very little maintenance, if any at all. The only consideration is giving them a quick clean regularly to make sure they are free from dirt.

Steel garden ornaments, on the other hand, can develop rust over time if they are not regularly maintained. However, the maintenance procedure is easy to stay on top of, with a simple revarnish required once a year.

For more information about how to look after a garden Buddha ornament, read our guide to garden sculpture maintenance.

Our Buddha statues come in lots of different sizes and designs, designed to suit diverse gardens. They start from around 10cm tall, the perfect size for decorating flowerbeds or accentuating an existing statue garden. On the other end of the scale, we have large Buddha statues that reach upwards of 1.5m tall.

We also sell diverse designs, ranging from freestanding statues to beautiful wall art. Some of our garden ornaments depict Siddhartha Gautama in the iconic Buddhist meditation pose, while others represent a ‘laughing Buddha’ or ‘happy Buddha’.

The range of sizes and designs in our garden Buddha statue collection means there is something for everybody, whether they are looking for a garden centrepiece or a small garden accessory.

All of our garden Buddha statues are suitable for outdoor use, which means they are designed to be able to withstand all weather conditions. However, different levels of maintenance will be required to keep them in pristine condition, depending on what material they are made from.

Buddha statues made out of bronze, aluminium or cast iron will be most resistant to the weather, with the latter developing a beautiful characterful patina over time. Aluminium Buddha statues may develop rust in particularly rainy climates, but a simple maintenance routine can mitigate the weather’s effects.

All of our Buddha statues, whatever material they are made from, are perfectly suitable for indoor use and will be just as impressive indoors as in a garden. The best-suited Buddha statues in our collection for indoor use are smaller ornaments, so just make sure to check the dimensions of your chosen statue in the product specification.
