Peter Morrison - Revolving Drum Stool
Peter created his first product in 1999 called the Technical Development Ring to help his son develop his football skills after he was signed to Wolverhampton Wonderers Football clubs academy. It was during the development of this product that Peter first tried his hand at fabrication welding and design. In 2003 and 2004 Peter won British Inventor of the year Platinum Award for the (TDR). In 2005 Peter presented the TDR on the popular TV show Dragons Den. The TDR has been used by many football clubs and organisations including a sale to AC Milan Football Club. Since then Peter has designed and developed several other products that he has taken to market.
Peter Morrison with his creation - Revolving Drum Stool
Peter sees opportunities in problem solving, 90% of his ideas have an ecological benefit. His invention of the leaf log was made from naturally fallen dried leaves which nature provides us each autumn. The leaf logs are good substitute for coal and wood.
After his washing machine of 15 years packed up, he decided to take it apart to use the components for his other ideas. Having taken the washing machine apart and looking at the drum he saw a stool. The challenge for him was to ensure that after making the stool it would still revolve as it did when it was a washing machine drum.
Peter is constantly looking to redesign the status quo taking old things and turning them into something new. It has always been his ambition to design bespoke pieces of furniture that can also be viewed as art.
