Kinnerley Church of England Primary School have won a National award as the winners of our 2021 International Schools Mosaic Competition.
The Primary School beat 600 schools, both from the UK and worldwide, to be crowned the winner.
Inspired by their classes named after different owls, the children designed a mosaic to represent each class, with the most creative and eye-catching being chosen to be the designs of the final mosaics. Using pebbles donated by the community, they created five mosaics each depicting an owl.
Along with the award, Kinnerley Primary School will also get a free VIP school trip for 30 students which will include lunch, a certificate, and a free gift for each student.
All the shortlisted schools will also receive a runner-up certificate and a free school trip.
Elizabeth Madin, Head of School, was delighted that their school were named the winners. “We are absolutely thrilled to have won the British Ironworks mosaic competition”, she said.
“We have some very talented young people at Kinnerley Primary School and what was even more special was how well they worked collaboratively to produce such fantastic end results, from Nursery right through to Year 6. The fact that the owl designs reflect our classes and who we are is extra special too. We are now looking forward to our prize visit to the Ironworks!”
We have further school competitions planned, so please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for future announcements and details on how to take part.
