The Forge Falconry
Each show will be hosted by our team of trained Falconers and will begin with a fun welcome talk, introducing the birds and explaining a little more about their character and charm. This will shortly be followed by a flying demonstration with even more fun facts and then the chance to see these magnificent birds in flight.
Throughout the cold Winter months, the Forge Falconry will be closed. We will be opening again in the spring.

There is always the opportunity for interaction with our falconers asking questions ensuring everyone enjoys the display. The experience continues with some information about the natural habitat of the birds we have here which is ideal for younger children and fascinated visitors.
Everyday 12pm and 2pm (subject to weather conditions).
At weekends join us at 3pm for our educational 'Bird Chat' where we'll be talking our birds in greater detail.

Meet The Team
Chris grew up in the Sussex countryside and had his fist hawk and falcon at the age of 14. He gained his experience from his grandfather, James Warriner (Warriner meant “rabbit catcher”) who flew Goshawks and Peregrines. He has worked alongside many big names. His favourite bird is Maggie, pictured here. Maggie is a Harris Hawk and was hatched in 1983.

Aaron has chosen to follow his dad's foot steps to become a falconer. He has over 20 years experience working with these magnificent birds. Aaron is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to his birds. Join us at 3pm on the weekends for our educational talks and ask Aaron as many questions as your heart desires. Aaron's favourite bird is the Lanner Falcon.
The Taster Session
1 hour - £25
Enjoy a personal introduction to falconry. This equips you with all the knowledge and facts about the history and habitat of these beautiful birds.You will be able to hold a selection of our beautiful birds and have your photo taken. Minimum age requirement of 14 years.
Half A Day
3 Hours - £55
Have the opportunity to hold a selection of our magnificent birds of prey. Learn about their daily routine and they special requirements. With everyone fully acquainted it’s time to spread your wings and test yourself with a flying lesson. Here you with the assistance of the team you will be able to fly one of the birds for the remainder of your session. This is an excellent gift for anyone who loves birds and would love to get close. Minimum age requirement of 14 years.
The Full Day Falconry Experience
October To March
9:45am till 4:00pm, Monday to Friday - £100
Become a falconer for a day, below is a break down of the day.
Here is a general break down of activities, please note the schedule is subject to change. Lunch and coffee are included. Please note, schedule is subject to change.
The day begins you getting to know our falconry team over a welcoming tea or coffee.
Once everyone is fully aquinted we will then introduce you to the other key members of our team. You'll be introduced to the magnificent birds that call The British Ironwork Centre home, have the chance to fly some of our beautiful hawks and owls.
We then move on to an event not to be missed, you will witness the power and majestic nature of our falcons during a private demonstration.
We will then take a short break where you can ask our Falconers any questions that you may have. This is then followed by lunch. The afternoon will be spent in the grounds of the centre where you will have to opportunity to handle and fly a hawk, we will then end the day with a tea or coffee.
Photography Day Experience
9:45am till 4:00pm, Monday to Friday - £90. A minium of 4 people is required.
This is an excellent experience for anyone with a love of photography. You will have a far more personal view of the birds. The birds will be flown around the centre for 'in flight' shots.
Please note the minimum age for the experiences is 14 years of age.
Bookings must be made with a member of the Falconry team, the team will be back in the spring.
In Loving Memory Of Andy Cook
Andy was an increidbly talented man and we were honoured to watch his many displays. Andy had over 40 years’ experience with birds of prey and has hosted numerous demonstrations all over the UK. During his time Andy utilised the natural hunting instincts of the birds to assist with pest control at some of the country’s leading companies.Andy cared for more than 20 magnificent birds here at the Centre. He will be missed by all here at The British Ironwork Centre.
