You may have noticed we are little animal crazy here at the Ironworks with our Safari Park and Extinction Trail full of animals from all over the world. But our animals don’t need feeding or cleaning up after, so, when a living, breathing animal comes in the Centre, we go wild for them.
Dog Friendly
We love dogs as much as you do so there’s no reason they should miss out on all the fun. From some fabulous walking routes around the sculpture parks, which include plenty of water stations and waste bins along the way, to doggy ice-cream and complimentary dog bags and dog-biscuits, we have it all to make sure the dogs enjoy their day out too. All we ask is that dogs remain on a lead and refrain from entering the indoor Café and Store.
Bee Hives
The British Ironwork Centre currently has four beehives in the sculpture park, which are all working and thriving colonies. They are looked after in collaboration with Oswestry bee keeper Anthony. Anthony visits the beehives regularly to keep them buzzing! Sadly, these beehives are not for visitors to interact with, but are a strong part of our ecology policy and environmental drive.
Farm Friends
Long before we were a sculpture park & long before the Ironworks, we were a farm (Whitehall Farm). We do have some longstanding family friends sharing the sculpture park, they live and can be talked too but we always prefer to discourage feeding or petting as they are not exhibits, they are family friends that reside in the park and in some cases roam free.
I’m always hungry but PLEASE DO NOT FEED ME! because once I start I can’t stop!
My mom and dad feed and chat to me everyday.
If it’s hot or my water bowl is low, please use the tap and top it up for me.
Hi I’m Elsa, the British Ironwork Centre Donkey. I am white in colour, but if you see me in a lovely shade of brown, you can be sure to know, that I have been rolling around in the dirt. I was rescued from the Donkey Sanctuary and now live the life of luxury with my mate, Jack!
Hi I’m Jack, the Shetland Pony and I live with my big best friend, Elsa. I am fawn in colour, but like Elsa, I do love to roll around in the dirt. Come say hello to us, you can’t miss us…we actually move, unlike these metal animal sculptures!
