Georgina Wright Ceramic Workshops

Georgina Wright Ceramics is officially open here at The British Ironwork Centre.

Georgina is a high calibre potter with a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of ceramics.

Not only has she studied for her B.A Hons in Applied Arts, she has earned a masters of Arts in Arts practice at Glyndwr University, Also acquired a Teaching degree to teach ceramics. She teaches at Glyndwr University, North Shropshire College and Shrewsbury College but she also hosts workshops for adults and children in Powys and Shropshire and teaches SEN at Derwen College.

Georgina will be hosting workshops in her unit which will range from a 2-hour taster session through to 4-6 week courses, and everything in between.

Georgina is running specialised clay workshops in all construction methods, applications and decorating processes including specialist wheel throwing tuition in the area of ceramics. Tailoring a unique "clay" experience to suit total beginners wanting to try clay for the first to,e to the more experienced learner looking to expand their knowledge. 
You will be offered help and support along the way with relaxed informal teaching style, lots of demos to help and encourage your inner creativity and become the potter you have always wanted to be. 
You will create a unique piece from clay to take home for your family and friends to admire.

 Fun Taster Sessions (2 hours) - £40

You will have a fun introduction to clay using the methods of either pinch pots, coiling or slab building. There will be a creative theme and it will be tailored to age.

You will make an item out of clay, add surface texture, colour and decoration.

The pieces will be dried and fired. This takes up to 2/3 weeks before ready for collection from the studio.

Please wear old clothes and bring an apron.

Half Day Workshops (3 hours) - £60

A focus will be given to one construction methods, coiling, throwing or slab-building and will follow a creative theme.This workshop is more in-depth than the taster session giving you a better technical understanding of the method. 

Full tuition step by step with demonstrations. 

You will make an item out of clay, add surface texture and decoration with coloured slip. 

The pieces will be dried and fired. This takes up to 2/3 weeks before ready for collection from the studio.

Please wear old clothes and bring an apron.

 Full Day Workshops (9:30am - 3:30pm) - £120

The day session covers everything from the preparation of the clay to final glazing and decoration. You will meet new people and learn new skills. 

You will work to a design brief and produce unique piece/s of work using several different methods of hand built construction.

Suitable for beginners or more experienced the day will be tailored to suit skill level. 

you will be shown how to decorate your creation.
