Guide Dogs Oswestry sees Huge Lift in Funds

Over the summer holidays, the Oswestry branch of the Guide Dogs Association were offered a helping hand to dramatically improve the money raised for their cause. The Guide Dogs Association aim to provide support for those who are blind or partially sighted by breaking down physical barriers and giving them the confidence and skills needed to live the life they choose.

Fundraisers from the branch had been trying to sell their wares at all sorts of events and markets, but were often struggling to gain interest due to bad weather conditions and a lack of footfall. It was at one of these events, being held right here at the Ironworks centre, that our management team met the Oswestry branch organisers, offering them a merchandise stall within our showroom visitor centre.

We knew that our visitors would love to help the Guide Dogs Association as much as we do, and with their lovely array of products, we had no doubts that they would sell fast. Within the first week of featuring the merchandise in our showroom, the association saw sales dramatically improve, selling more gifts and wares over a month than they had in the past year! We have since been told that we have managed to help them raise a whopping £2136.15 in funds.

With so much footfall entering our site every day, we feel that we can use our popularity for a whole host of good. Supporting charities is a really common feature in the way that we work, and if we can cut out the middle man and help to fast track success by selling charity wares in our showroom, then we are more than happy to do it. Over the festive period, St Christopher’s School, the largest specialist school in Wales, have a beautiful selection of gifts and Christmas decorations on sale in our showroom.

All proceeds made from these charity supplied products go straight back to the charity itself and we hope to do much more of this in 2019 with even more charities across the region!
