The British Ironwork Centre is truly honoured and delighted to be chosen to host a brand new NHS Diabetic Eye Screening Programme in partnership with the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As a travelling mobile service, the service aims to meet the needs of the local people and will be open to all patients within the Staffordshire and Shropshire area who are diabetic. Sadly, diabetes is one of the leading causes of blindness in the UK as it affects small blood vessels within the retina. Diabetic eye screening is therefore extremely important to help prevent sight loss and it is crucial for screening to take place regularly to detect any changes in vision. The mobile service will be hosted at the British Ironwork Centre monthly where each patient will have their eyes examined in a process which will take no longer than 30 mins, all whilst complying within Covid guidelines. We, will of course provide more information and details as soon as we have finalised dates.
