Newport Uskmouth rotary club

30/11/2015 12:27

Clive has been asked by Mr Robert Kenny of Newport Uskmouth Rotary Club to be a guest speaker at the Cardiff Conference for district 1150 Rotarians.

This conference is the annual assembly for the Rotarians of South Wales, this will enable us to take our National knife campaign to the South Wales police forces and hopefully encourage them to be involved in the creation of the national monument against Violence and Aggression.

Yesterday saw us hand over a cheque to Vanessa Thomas of Hope House Children's Hospices with the total amount raised at our Sheep dog trials back in August. Gayle Forrester and Alun Jones and Ron the dog, of the organising committee, were also in attendance alongside Emma Parry, of the Ironworks to hand over the cheque to the charity.

We raised a total of £963! which is phenomenal! We know the money is much needed and will continue support Hope House in any way possible.

Community award

30/11/2015 13:37

The Ironworks were honoured to receive this award for our fundraising and services to the community. We attended the Mayor’s Ball this weekend which was a celebration for local businesses and organisations involved with volunteering projects in the area. The community is at the very heart of our organisation and it’s vital that we are able to give back and contribute whenever possible.

We are overwhelmed to be recognised by the mayor and strive to continue our involvement with charities and the community.

We are happy to be supporting another local business here at The British Ironwork Centre and will soon be serving our customers their delicious pastries. We selected Treflach Farm as they only use the very finest ingredients to produce their products.

You must come and try some, perfect winter warmers.

Best Dressed staff

Best Dressed Staff award!!! Every element of our centre and presentation is improving from our now platinum award toilets to our staff's uniform.

We now have many international visitors coming to the centre, so we must represent the UK the best we can. Who's the best dressed out of this bunch?

Shrewsbury college

The engineering course at Shrewsbury College were here this week to have a guided tour of the Ironworks.

They enjoyed seeing Paul at work in the Forge. He showed them a few basic techniques that every Blacksmith should know and gave them a little insight into how the forge works.

We loved having the students here, and hope they learnt a lot from what they saw.

Peter Walker

October saw some new artwork arrive at The British Ironwork Centre. Peter Walker Sculptor saw his work installed as part of our 'art on tour' in our sculpture park.

The sculptures travelled here from Lichfield Cathedral, where they had been on exhibition for some months as part of the Lichfield Sculpture Project. We are excited to see what our visitors think of Peters work and it's a real privilege to have them here.
