Lancashire Constabulary has joined forces with the ground-breaking national anti-knife crime campaign ‘Save a Life, Surrender Your Knife’, as the force conducts its own knife amnesty.

Since their amnesty began at the end of August, more than 500 knives have been handed in across the county – including swords, machetes and commando knives.

Lancashire officers have now given their backing to a national initiative designed to raise awareness of knife crime and encourage the surrender of dangerous weapons, and will be kindly donating the knives they collect to the Save a Life campaign.

Anti Knife Crime We've had a busy morning here yesterday. A monumental event against knife crime took place here in Sculptor Alfie Bradley's Studio.

We had North Wales Police, Chief Constable, Mark Polin here along with Deputy Crime Commissioner for North Wales Julian Sandham to symbolically weld a knife onto our knife angel. They were joined by Glyn Davies (British politician) and two local welsh families who have been affected by knife crime in who also took part.

It was a fantastic way to really get our message across, the impact of knife crime is real. It affects everyone. It was symbolic to get these Welsh families welding alongside the Welsh Police force.

It was a hard hitting, emotional morning, remembering the loss of loved ones. We had numerous press including BBC Radio Shropshire Capital North West & North Wales Shropshire Star Oswestry Advertizer
The event was also filmed to be included in the documentary being made on the knife angel project.

Knives donated to Memorial SatueHenry and June Winby of Crewe came to visit us after seeing us on TV. They popped into reception to donate some of their knives for our 'Knife Angel' project.
Anywhere else this would seem odd, but not here!  We would like to thank them both as each knife is a step closer but we still need more to reach our total of 100,000
